Abstract:

The validation of an aseptic packaging machine includes a microbiological challenge. This step leads to the calculation of the log count reduction (LCR). The calculation of LCR can be accomplished by a Poisson-binomial model similar to the one used to calculate the most probable model (MPN). Alternative models can investigate other possible features of aseptic packaging.
