Using DuxStat to Assist Large Classes Incorporating a Data Analysis Approach - THIS COURSE HAS BEEN CANCELLED - Continuing Ed
ASA
Instructor(s): James W. Hardin, Texas A&M University, Joe Rogove, Duxbury, Thomson
Our research indicates that University faculty are teaching larger class sections of Introductory Statistics with similar or fewer resources. This, coupled with the general trend of a greater emphasis on data analysis and interpretation, has resulted in some unique and important teaching challenges. On the one hand, courses and textbooks are placing greater emphasis on students' active analysis of data. This often occurs through textbook exercises, cases and projects that consist of data with some applied setting and analyzed by statistical software. On the other hand, assessing students' ability to perform these skills is difficult to manage and proctor. Enter DuxStat, an online tool for data analysis that finally allows instructors to test the way they teach, and saves them time while doing it. This presentation will walk through several basic functions of DuxStat, and then demonstrate how instructors can use DuxStat in tandem with the BCA, a browser-based, fully integrated testing and course management software. Fee: Everyone - $50.00
