Abstract #302368

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Keywords: generalized p values ; mixed models ; variance components ; compound symmetric covariance structure
Abstract:

Problem of making inferences on a widely used repeated measures model is considered without the assumption of equal error variances. By taking the generalized approach we derive the formulae for computing exact generalized p-values for testing the equality of treatment effects, occasion effects, and their interactions. We also provide the formulae for making inferences about the variance components of the model. Superiority of the generalized p values over the classical F-test is demonstrated by means of an example.
