Abstract:

Functional genomics has transformed small scale experiments into a high troughput mode. As a result, these new technologies yield large amounts of data that can hardly be analyzed by eye. This talk will give an overview of the technologies involved, the data they produce, and the resulting computational and statistical problems. Emphasis will be placed on the interplay of the search for DNA sequence patterns and the study of gene regulation using microarrays.
