Abstract:

Incomplete covariates cause a loss of precision and can induce a selection bias. Survival models with incomplete covariates pose particular problems because of the censured response variable. The motivation for this work stems from a multicenter trial, the Delta trial, on HIV-infected patients assigned to two combination treatments. Viral load measurements were available for only a fraction of the centers. Thus the data can be assumed to be missing at random. The method constructed in this project involves multiple imputation of the value of an incomplete continuous covariate using a rejection sampling procedure.
