Abstract:

WebStat is a full service data analysis package that runs as a Java applet within a web page. The package can be found at www.webstatsoftware.com. The latest version of the software, 3.0, offers many new features for the graphical exploration of data. New WHERE and GROUP BY options are offered within an SQL-like approach for selecting and categorizing data to be analyzed. When grouping is used, color-coded graphics are constructed that allow the user to discern group structure. In addition, all WebStat graphics are interactive. The user may select graph objects to highlight the corresponding observations across all active graphics and the data table. The power of this approach to graphical data analysis will be discussed and displayed.
