Abstract:

Noninvasive medical instrument using absorption spectra by light to measure the quantitative information like concentrations of blood components has been developed. The irrelevant source of variation included in the measured spectra results in the difficulties of identifying the qualitative information, such as the locations of peaks in the pure spectrum of a component and the problems of estimating concentrations Preprocessing is used to remove or reduce such random or systematic noise. Since the results from preprocessing depend on the tools used and the order of applying tools, it is very useful to select the optimal preprocessing procedure according to a known characteristic of the data. The simulated data of mixture spectra of three components containing possible noises were generated. The result of this study can show the scheme of establishing the best multivariate calibration model for estimating the quantitative information of a target component by using the qualitative information.
