Abstract:

The receiver operating characteristic analysis is the established standard for evaluating a diagnostic tool. The performance of a diagnostic test is often affected by covariates. We present nonparametric regression techniques for studying the effect of covariates on the accuracy of a diagnostic marker and for comparing two markers.
