This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Title: The Use of Multiple Addresses to Enhance Cluster Detection

Keywords: spatial statistics ; cluster detection ; real-time surveillance ; bioterrorism
Abstract:

Typically in spatial statistics, each observation corresponds to a single spatial location. We consider situations where each observation may consist of two or more spatial locations, which we call "multiple address" observations. We also discuss statistical methodology for handling multiple addresses in the context of cluster detection and suggest possible applications to real-time surveillance systems and biosurveillance (early detection of biological or chemical attacks).
