Abstract #301957

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

Gene expression data from microarray experiments with replications have been studied based on several parametric models. Robust nonparametric statistical methods are needed for analyzing replicated microarray data. Moreover, due to the cost of microarray experiments, sample sizes are often small. Hence, our inference will be based on permutation tests. We generalize (1) the rank sum test for comparing replicated measurements from treatments applied to two sets of independent samples; and (2) the Wilcoxon signed rank test for comparing replicated measurements obtained from treatments applied to matched samples. We develop inferences for analyzing replicated gene expression data.
