Abstract #301945

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

We investigate the use of smoothing splines in logistic regression to estimate the distribution of covariate values that yield a fixed response probability, e.g., LC50 or LD50. We develop an algorithm for a monotonic spline fit, approximate the distribution of the resulting probability estimates, and using a Bayesian approach approximate the distribution of the fixed-response covariates. We illustrate our algorithm on datasets from studies of genetic spatial diversity.
