Abstract:

A characterization of k-variate normal distributions based on independent Student's t distribution is given. This characterization is used as a transformation changing a k-variate normal random sample to a sample from a uniform distribution over the interval [0, 1]. Applications to empirical-distribution-function (EDF) goodness-of-fit tests for k-variate normal distributions are considered. The power of the tests at several alternative distributions are estimated by Monte Carlo method.
