Title: A Gene Recommender for C. Elegans
Author(s): Art B. Owen*+
Companies: Stanford University
Address: Sequoia Hall, Stanford, CA, 94305-4020,
Keywords: microrarray ; recommender ; genes ; C elegans
Abstract:

Given a query list of genes known to have a common function, we consider the problem of finding other genes with the same or closely related function. Our approach is based on adapting methods from search and recommender engines to expression data. Starting with a query of 5 genes from the Retinoblastoma complex, we ranked candidate genes. A followup RNAi knockout experiment confirmed that two new genes JC8.6 and wrm-1 are Retinoblastoma linked.
