Abstract:

The focus of this talk is on the application of ANOVA models to detecting differential gene expressions for cDNA microarray experiments. We analytically establish the conditions of the equivalence between the one- and two-step analyses under both the fixed and mixed models. Furthermore, conditions such that those two analyses are not equivalent are also investigated. The significant difference between the one- and two-step mixed models will be illustrated through Monte Carlo simulation and case studies.
