Abstract #300727

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

Repeated measures are very common in biology, biomedical, epidemiological, psychological, and pharmaceutical research. We propose classification rules, under the assumption of multivariate normality, for populations with certain structured and unstructured mean vectors and under certain covariance structures. The effect on the misclassification error rate (MER) is examined when the true variance-covariance matrix for the repeated measures was structured and when it was estimated as structured as opposed to being estimated as unstructured. The correlation structure between the repeated measures plays an important role. Simulation results are used to study the impact of this correlation and the number of time points at which the repeated measures are taken on the MER.
