Abstract:

Vehicle safety affects our lives daily. To measure safety, we took a large sample of popular vehicles and set out to create a vehicle safety rating system. To do this, we used two multivariate techniques, Principal Components Analysis and Discriminant Analysis. Principal Components Analysis reduced our set of variables to a smaller set of principal components. We then used Discriminant Analysis to classify vehicles by safety rating using these principal components scores.
