Abstract:

Outside of the pharmaceutical industry, very few senior corporate officers are trained as statisticians. This dearth of trained statisticians among senior corporate leadership is a major problem facing the statistics profession. This talk summarizes a series of interviews conducted with senior executives at several major corporations on their views of the roles of statisticians in their companies. These senior leaders outline their concerns about statisticians and their suggestions for those statisticians who aspire to senior leadership roles.
