Title: Practical vs. Statistical Aspects of Altering Central Composite Designs
Author(s): Mark Anderson*+
Companies: Stat-Ease, Inc.
Address: 2021 East Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis, MN, 55413-2700,
Keywords: DOE ; Central Composite Design ; alpha values
Abstract:

Traditional central composite designs often specify design points that do not make practical sense to run. When there is a large number of factors, the calculated alpha levels can easily be +/- 3, or even 4. Is this a practical alpha value to use or is there a smaller value that will yield a workable design? We will discuss the implications of center points, the number of factors, and even the base from which the CCD is generated. Join us for a fun and enlightening discussion to improve your use of this robust response surface design.
