Abstract:

The speakers teach statistics via the internet including (1) the statistical methods course for a Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistical Strategies and for the departmental Master's program, and (2) much of the statistics content in the department's Professional (weekend) MBA program. The first course is taught in the summer via the internet and in the fall using a standard classroom delivery. The content in the Professional MBA program is taught by a blended method, with some sessions being synchronous distance learning (internet) sessions and others being taught via standard classroom delivery. In this presentation, the advantages and disadvantages of both these methods (i.e., standard classroom delivery and synchronous internet-based delivery) are contrasted.
