Abstract #302173

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

Modern statistical methods are largely dependent on sophisticated computational techniques. Many of these methods are computationally demanding. The success of these methods depends on effective use of modern computer technologies. The use of object oriented programming techniques in statistics is discussed. Customized data structure is developed for Cox's proportional hazards model with frailties. An application of this method is demonstrated on a real dataset.
