Abstract:

Statistical consulting with a staff of engineers, chemists, and scientists from a wide range of disciplines can produce a little anxiety, both for the statistician and the client! In an R&D environment it is essential that the statistician work with the research "team" from the beginning stages of the proposal, through the research project, and during the writing of the final report presenting the results. Successful collaborations can be achieved through a variety of ways. How can you promote statistics among your staff? What is your involvement in writing the proposal? How do you stay connected with the team during the project? What pitfalls should you avoid in writing your analyses for the final report? These issues can make or break a statistician's partnership with their clients.
