Abstract:

In 2003 the Quantitative Economics and Statistics Group of Ernst and Young LLP conducted an economic impact study of the U.S. timeshare industry. The purpose was to assist the American Resort Development Association in developing an understanding of the economic impact generated by the U.S. timeshare industry. Privacy issues caused several challenges with defining a reliable sampling frame. This paper describes the process used to define the sampling frame, how the sample was determined and selected, and the impact of the process on the results of the study.
