Relatively recent computational breakthroughs in Markov chain Monte Carlo statistical methods have made it possible to extend the Bayesian paradigm, in a practical way, to problems involving broad classes of distributions. Our discussion will focus on the basic ideas and methods involved in Bayesian nonparametric inference.
