Abstract:

As part of a large-scale sampling frame update, the EIA compiled a list of establishments representing potential additions. Probabilistic linkage was used to assist in the classification of new records. Linkage weights were used to classify records into three categories: already on frame, possibly on frame, and not on frame. A description of the frame update procedures is presented. The results of the probabilistic linkage are discussed using Bernier's definition of the reliability of a link. Potential sources of error relevant to establishment surveys are also presented.
