Abstract:

This paper reviews ongoing research on the application of the mean cumulative function (MCF) to the analysis of recurrent events in internet shopping data. The MCF (Nelson 2003) is a nonparametric technique for the analysis of recurrent or repeated events data. Topics including the choice of unit of analysis (session vs. customer), web metrics, sampling methods, data time frames, and the selection of data collection reference points (time zero) are discussed, and the results from recent applications are reviewed. Areas for additional research and development are also discussed.
