Abstract:

Standard regression software packages typically do not simultaneously present both overall regression statistics (s, R^2,adjusted R^2, Cp) and the p-values for the independent variables in the different possible regression models. Furthermore, standard stepwise regression procedures can fail to find the best models. We illustrate stepwise selection, a modified all-possible regressions and stepwise regression procedure--implemented by the Excel add-in package MegaStat®--that remedies these problems and improves the teaching of model building.
