Abstract:

For Census 2000, the Census Bureau established 511 field offices known as Local Census Offices. The control and implementation of the field enumeration activities were performed at these offices. Prior to Census 2000, there has never been a unified profile of the census operations at the Local Census Office. This paper provides an operational summary combining data from multiple operations to provide a statistical story at the Local Census Office. Results from this analysis will provide insights into the work that was performed in the 511 field offices. In addition, this work will provide benchmarks that will aid planning for Census 2010
