Abstract:

This paper gives an overview of the methodology and results of the analysis of person duplication for the Accuracy and Coverage Evaluation Revision II (A.C.E. Revision II) estimates. For the revised estimates, we needed to identify duplicate enumerations so we could adjust the estimate of correct enumerations for our dual-system estimate. We also needed better estimates of duplication to understand the overall coverage of Census 2000. We show how we used statistical and exact matching methods to link person records together. Using these statistical and exact matching results, we show how we modeled the probability of records being the same person. We used the same methods to identify links of cases in our Population sample. These methods allowed us to adjust the match rate of our estimate.
