Abstract:

Cluster analysis techniques are applied to functional data to identify placebo responders among drug-treated patients. Response profiles are estimated for each subject. Representative curves are identified using characteristics of the estimated profiles. The representative profiles identify the various types of responders including placebo responders and true drug responders. Data from a discontinuation antidepresant trial is used to estimate and test the technique.
