Abstract:

Often treatment benefit is assessed by multiple endpoints so that a comprehensive picture of efficacy can be obtained. The multiple endpoints can be different medical measurements angled at different aspects of a disease, or a same measurement assessed at multiple time points. How to evaluate multiple endpoints has been an important statistical topic because of its multiplicity nature. I explore an approach with which multiple endpoints can be tested individually, while the p values obtained from the tests are evaluated jointly. This approach is flexible in a sense that decision rules can be developed to control the Type I error either weakly or strongly. Applications in clinical trials will also be discussed.
