Address: 2232 University Dr., Naperville, IL, 60565,
Keywords: race ; ethnicity ; measurement error ; public policy
Abstract:

According to Census 2000, 2.4% (about 7 million) of the U.S. population regard themselves as a person of two or more races. In addition, 12.5% identify themselves as a person of Hispanic origin. Within government agencies, colleges and universities, and major organizations, achieving racial/ethnic diversity is an important policy objective. Given the ambiguous category of "two or more races" and Hispanic ethnicity, how are we going to achieve racial/ethnic diversity? Various outcome variables (including income and education) will be examined by differing classifications of race/ethnicity.
