Abstract:

We examine familiar kernel smoothing methods for density and regression problems by utilizing some existing programs in S-plus as well as Locfit by Loader. We explain these programs, provide handouts to supplement the discussion, discuss additional issues important to nonparametric smoothing and look at some real data examples.
