Abstract #300872

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Title: A Comparison of Two Regression Estimators for Two-phase Sampling

Abstract:

In complex surveys, auxiliary information is often available at both the population and the first-phase level, and this information can be used to improve the precision of the phase-two estimators. Several methods have been proposed in the literature to construct regression estimators in this context, and they differ in the manner in which regression models applied. We compare regression estimators proposed by Fuller (1998) and Sarndal, Swensson and Wretman (1992). We discuss and contrast their theoretical and practical properties.
