Abstract:

Statisticians and other scientists are often in the situation of having to explain scientific findings to decision makers, especially the uncertainty associated with them. In essence, this can amount to giving a 20-minute course in statistics to someone who would rather not hear about uncertainty. This panel will discuss such situations and some approaches to help make our profession better at this type of communication.
