Abstract:

I am interested in analyzing data on union formation collected via the National Survey of Households and Families. This data which was collected in two waves has problems with missing information. In particular, when Wave 2 data are missing, we do not know if respondents got married, that is, formed a union. My goal is to analyze the data without accounting for the missingness and compare this to results after using multiple imputation to account for the missing data. I have reason to believe that certain groups of people may not end up getting married at the rate that it is currently thought in the literature. I plan to account for the missingness and see if this makes a difference in the results.
