Abstract #300667

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

This article studies the statistical test of homogeneity against umbrella alternatives in a sequence of Poisson distributions associated with an ordered dose variable. We propose a test similar to the trend test of Cochran-Armitage type and study the asymptotic null distribution and the power and of such test. We also propose an estimator of the vertex point when the umbrella pattern is confirmed and study the performance of the estimator. A real dataset pertaining to the number of visible revertant colonies associated with different doses of test agents in an in vitro mutagenicity assay is used to demonstrate the test and estimation process.
