Abstract:

Many undergraduate math curriculums include a calculus- and probability-based statistics course geared for majors. How does the traditional syllabus for such a course stand up in light of current statistical practice and current thinking on what makes a "good" statistics course (such as, more data analysis through case studies and "real world" applications)? In particular, what is the right balance of math and statistics for Math Stat?
