Title: An Online System for Teaching the Design and Analysis of Experiments
Author(s): Carl J. Schwarz*+

Address: Dept. of Statistics & Actuarial Sci., Burnaby, BC, V5A 1S6, Canada
Keywords: experimental design ; www
Abstract:

Students learn best by doing. Unfortunately, most classes in the design and analysis of experiments can only deal with static, predesigned, pre-run examples of experiments. An online, web-based system will be demonstrated where students have some flexibility in the design of the experiment. The current demo allows CRD, RCB, split-plot, and subsampling to be demonstrated. Each student receives individualized random responses mimicking a real-life experimental situation. The system is web-based and an be easily modified to accommodate differing correlational structures. Experiences with the system after several years of usage with students will be outlined.
