Abstract #300570

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Title: Generalized Self-Consistency Methods for Cure Models
Author(s): Alexander Tsodikov*+

Keywords: semiparametric models ; cure models ; model building ; NPMLE
Abstract:

A unified approach is proposed for model building and construction of numerically efficient algorithms for maximum likelihood inference for a large class of semiparametric cure models. The approach is based on a generalization of the idea of self-consistency and links EM algorithms for frailty models and recently developed MM algorithms. Composition technique is developed for building hierarchical model families compatible with the algorithms.
