Abstract:

The supplemented case-control design consists of a case-control sample and of additional data on a subgroup of disease free subjects that are known to be positive for one of the exposures of interest. This design may help improve precision in the inference of joint exposures in any situation where the prevalence of one of the exposures is low, and additional information from data sources other than the case-control sample is available. We use two-phase design methods to find maximum likelihood estimates for the log odds ratios for this design and apply the method to assess the influence of genetic polymorphisms and radon exposure in lung cancer.
