Abstract:

A statistics computerized tutor is a learning tool that presents students with a data-analysis problem, guides them through the solution, and provides individually tailored feedback. The discussion will focus on the pedagogical and statistical ideas behind the development of such a tutor, the advantages and challenges of integrating a computerized tutor in the course, as well as ways in which the tutor can be improved. The discussion will follow a short demonstration.
