Abstract:

We develop and share further insights into error rates before and after standardizing spotted microarray data (Jovanovic, et al. 2002). Logonormal distribution is used as underlying true distribution of gene expression, and ratio R=Y/X is considered the basic screening tool. We discuss parametric and nonparametric alternatives to R. We provide simulation results and examples from prostate cancer research (Liu et al. 2002).
