Abstract:

We present an architecture designed to integrate and buffer streaming data in a way that allows real-time analytics and display of up to 20 frames per second in a 2D or 3D environment. Dancer is an object-oriented Java class library for processing changing tables of data and rendering them to a graphics and/or sound environment. Analytics include parametric and nonparametric 2D and 3D smoothers, exponential forecasting, and statistical summaries. Graphical elements include bars, lines, areas, surfaces, and heat maps. Interactive controllers include sliders for manipulating time, 3D rotation, and data filters. Recent work on real-time financial and weather data streams is presented.
