Abstract #300108

This is the preliminary program for the 2003 Joint Statistical Meetings in San Francisco, California. Currently included in this program is the "technical" program, schedule of invited, topic contributed, regular contributed and poster sessions; Continuing Education courses (August 2-5, 2003); and Committee and Business Meetings. This on-line program will be updated frequently to reflect the most current revisions.

Abstract:

An accelerated model for recurrence data is proposed. The model is based on the time between failures (TBFs) instead of the total (cumulative) failure times in traditional approaches, and the inference can be fulfilled by the maximum likelihood method. In addition, the repair effect or cure effect is also studied. A graphical display of recurrence data by plotting the log-TBFs versus the number of failures is proposed to catch any trend for log-TBFs. The model is then extended to incorporate covariates such as the treatment effect and batch effect, and/or time factors. A real dataset is used to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed model.
