Description

The Social Security Administration has undertaken a large new data collection effort designed to measure persons with work disabilities in the United States. The survey, entitled the National Survey of Health and Activities, incorporates telephone and personal interviews as well as medical examinations and a simulation of SSA's disability assessment process. The panel presents the findings of a comprehensive review of the study by the Committee on National Statistics of the Institute of Medicine. Disability researchers will discuss methods, design, conduct, findings, and implications of the study.
