Description

In this 4-hour workshop, you will learn several techniques for communicating technical information -- especially biostatistical information -- to non-statisticians. The goal of the course are to increase your understanding of communication process, highlight the importance of written communication in science, improve the reporting of biostatisical analyses and results to researchers and peer reviewers, and illustrate several techniques for making your writing more effective and faster and easier to produce. Find out how technical writing differs from the writing you learned in school -- and why this difference has probably turned you off and reduced the quality of writing in the scientific community. The course has something to offer skilled writers, as well as "reluctant" and less-skilled writers who find writing difficult, distasteful, and even diabolical. We will focus on written communication, not on grammar or basic English skills.
