Description

This full-day course provides an introduction to concepts in modern sampling techniques and will outline various approaches for analyzing survey data for the statistics practitioner. The prerequisite is knowledge of multiple regression theory and practice; the course does not presuppose prior experience in survey sampling. The emphasis of the class will be on concepts of sample survey design and analysis rather than formulas. Topics include basic sampling designs, sampling weights, computer intensive methods of variance estimation, graphing survey data, and regression analyses using data from complex surveys. This course is intended for the statistics practitioner or teacher who wants an introduction to sampling methods, or who learned sampling more than ten years ago and wants to learn about current methods for analyzing survey data.
