Description
This session will introduce cost-effectiveness analysis, defining what it is, why it is useful, what measures are used, and methods for computing precision and related problems. We will review the Bayesian framework for CEA with trials data and give an example of Bayesian analysis of implantable defibrillator data. We will discuss the measurement of uncertainty in complex decision analysis models when clinical trials data do not exist or are insufficient to address the complexity of the decision model. The session will end with a discussant's view of current methods of cost-effectiveness analysis.
