Abstract:

Teaching statistical "service" courses to graduate students from a variety of health-related majors has inherent challenges. While challenges exist even when teaching a course within the home department of the discipline that the students are studying, they can be even more complex when teaching a single biostatistics course to students from health education, nutrition, social work, medical anthropology, biology, medicine and nursing, for example. Approaches to the challenges of keeping students with varying subject backgrounds and level of experience interested in course examples, and topics will be the focus of this roundtable discussion.
