Abstract:

Recent advances in computational and statistical techniques have led many scientists to focus on analyzing microarray data and developing models for this data. However, issues of data collection, quality, and standards remain major bottlenecks to obtaining useful and applicable results. While some scientists focus mainly on experimental design, others are preoccupied with the quality of expression data or normalization procedures. The purpose of this review is to unify the best approaches in array design, experiment design, data quality, normalization procedures, error models, and differential expression to develop a comprehensive model.
